A wooden lamp could have a jungle inside of it. Each of these presents a unique opportunity for an environment based on these materials. Various materials that the genie lamp could be made of and manifest inside the lamp: gold, brass, iron, copper, bronze, rock, stone, wood, petrified wood, ice, crystaline quartz, ruby, emerald, aether, clay, brick, etc. There could be a warning like, "if you choose to submit nobody, you will automatically activate every penalty at once," but if they do that, they win (that might be too obvious, idk how your party thinks). Anytime they submit someone wrongly, something happens, be it monsters spawning or straight up direct attribute damage. For example, it could lie to the party telling them that one of them is a traitor and the only way to escape is to identify who the traitor is, but there is actually no traitor. The realm could manifest as a series of illusions (questions or entities asking questions mixed with fighting) that challenge the players to make a step toward personal growth. You could have the inside of the realm be malleable, allowing players to craft crazy items on a whim that only work inside the lamp. The corruption could be from remnant magical effects or from some evil intruders. lmk if you liked any of the ideas.Įdit: More idea is having the lamp be corrupted by some magical force, and the players need to help uncorrupt the lamp. The players could choose to taunt the squatter to make them come out of hiding, or they could squander the squatters efforts to subdue them by straightforward defeating the army or solving the dungeon. The squatter could have set up an elaborate series of traps, designed a shifting dungeon, or summoned an army. The crack could be how the enemies enter the lamp as well, and the size of the crack could affect how well the genie can perform their lair actions, idk.Īnother idea is that someone infiltrated his lamp and the genie has trapped them in there, but they are strong, and he needs help to defeat the squatter. One idea I think would be cool is to investigate a crack and try to repair it from the inside of the genie lamp. ![]() These could coorespond to various lair actions you give the genie. If you had a clay genie lamp, it wpuld be made of different types of stone and clay that can mold and shift to the whim of the guardian. So if you had a golden genie lamp, the realm could have a gigantic golden chamber with a smoking lake inside and giant gold arches going across the ceiling with giant golden bells or gongs hanging all over, or something like that. The realms are generally made of the material the item consists of. So its filled it at least a couple hundred individual ideas. The entire story is basically different ideas for the inside of an extra dimensional genie lamp. There are labrynth realms, puzzle realms, multidimensional non Euclidean geometry realms, realms which are entire worlds and have populations of warring opponents, realms with secret guardians, realms that fold like origami, prison realms that are meant to be nearimpossible to escape from, etc. There's some time dialation effects too, where while inside a realm, time outside moves at a snail's pace.īut the useful ideas for the genie lamp could come from the various types of realms that the awakened explore. If they defeat the guardian of the realm, then the item levels up, they become the owner, and it makes the guardian and the item stronger.Įvery awakened also has a personal realm in which they can store their items and connect their item guardians so they can protect it and live in there. I've been reading a LitRPG called Leveling Up the World, and I think it has tons of ideas for lair effects inside the genie lamp.īasically in the story, every item in the world, from a grain of sand to a entire castle, has a realm inside of itself (like a genie lamp) and people known as awakened can enter these realms. There's no reward for opening every single treasure box - and if you're simply proactive nabbing as many chests as you can, you'll get the trophy. There are way more than 200 treasure boxes to find in Trials of Mana, so you'll be able to get the trophy even if you miss a few - you've got quite a bit of slack there. So you can try and make sure you find them all before you complete those areas, but even if you happen to miss a few (say you accidentally trigger the scene that moves you to the next location), it's really not a big deal at all. This'll get you well on your way to the Steam Achievement and PlayStation Trophy for unlocking 200 treasure chests.ĭue to the nature of the structure of the game, there are some treasure chests in locations that are one time only, such as the Ghost Ship or Beuca Island. You can then follow this indicator to make sure you don't miss any chests as you play through Trials of Mana. Once it's unlocked, the number of treasure boxes you've found and that are still available in an area is listed in the bottom-left of your field map in-game, like so: Hit our Lil Cactus Location guide to help you unlock this treasure chest locating feature. Given that there are literally hundreds of chests to open, listing them all on one huge guide page doesn't make much sense - but Trials of Mana mercifully provides this method of unlocking an in-game list of all treasure chests for you. Later once you find Lil Cactus 35 times, you'll be able to see all available treasure chests on the in-game map and where they are located. I played this game many years ago with a fan-translation patch, and. For finding Lil Cactus 5 times, you'll get a counter on the game map that tells you how many are in the area. Trials of Mana, as you may know, is a 3D port of the Super Famicom game Seiken Densetsu 3. ![]() The 3D remake of Trials of Mana features a lot of chests, like we said, but here's the good news: you'll soon enough be able to see how many treasure chests are in each area. We've got lots more help with Trials of Mana if you need it - be sure to take a look at our Class Guide, covering best classes and class changes, post-game info, tips on leveling up fast, stats and the max level, and our guide to getting and using Seeds. But it is a way to save yourself some money, or in the case of things you might need to grind like Trials of Mana's seeds, a little bit of time. Nearly everything in them can be found elsewhere, and often times more easily. The point of noting this is to say: treasure chests are generally pretty boring in terms of the loot they provide. Treasure chests usually contain consumable items that can be purchased, seeds that can be dropped from enemies, and occasionally equipment that can also be bought from shops. They're spread across every map in the game, some open and obvious, others hidden, others rather in-between, easily missible if you're not paying attention but also easy enough to find. We're not kidding - Trials of Mana has hundreds upon hundreds of treasure chests. ![]() Only after learning what's there can they start trying to change, fix, or add anything to the game. Each time someone new comes on board, they have to learn everything that already is there and went into the game (coding, what equipment and stuff is already in the game, how items are generated, etc). Few want to stay and work on the game because of how Chucklefish mistreats it's workers. The modding community is pretty much being whats keeping it even worth playing, which also kills it going off PC.Īs Kitsune said, it's not likely with Chucklefish's treatment of its employees and poor business decisions. I could create a more compelling story than what they put in with the elements they had. I also think it has one of the most boring, non-threatening stories Ive ever seen. I suspect the sales figures from this move vs the work involved to be disasterous at best, and crippling at worst.) This means no mods and nothing on the game for a very long time likely, if ever. (as an example, they are trying to port this game to other consoles with a skeleton crew. (which is always an interesting gambit: Its how Final Fantasy 1 saved Square Enix after all! And how Okami never got a sequel worth talking about.)īut considering that this games infrastructure has aged horribly, Chucklefish's treatment of its employees and poor business decisions has spread, and even the lone programmer that did this title has admitted to this game being a cacophanous mess of coding, (This was one of Bartwe's earlier projects, he has since improved) I would not buy a sequel to this game even if Chucklefish paid me to beta test it. Given that Chucklefish is in a bit of a tight spot currently, I would not expect miracles to happen unless theyre either really desperate, really dumb, or making their swan song. I believe three teams have already failed at this task. ![]() why? isnt it one of the most popular among chucklefish's published games? Why? The only way I think youd see this game get a proper sequel is if they made a brand new game from scratch, and actually employed a more competant team to work on it that time.
